Finally, I am officially enrolled in a TESOL class. Last week we had our orientation and I felt weird but at the same time excited. Weird because after working for years now, I am attending classes and will soon start making homework. The feeling of excitement is caused by the fact that I will be meeting new friends and learn new things. With this new endeavor, as an adult learner, I don't want also to burden myself with the pressure. Although, the learning process itself is really tedious but I will find a way to make it interesting.
Yesterday, I met my classmates and trainer for the first time. I tried to be confident in front of them (I was actually a bit embarrassed with my sandals while others are wearing formal attire) . The room was quiet and everyone was behaving properly. The teacher spoke in French. I don't know what he was talking about but I can feel that he is introducing himself because I can recognize the word Mandaue, Cebu and his name.
I was speechless when he pointed at me and said something, I thought he was asking me to introduce myself to the class but I was wrong. After 10 minutes of speaking the same lines in front of the class we then found out that he wants us to follow what he was doing/saying. We just have to repeat every word he said. I felt stupid because I didn't get what he was trying to do at first because I was not observant, he gave us clues through hand gestures. But I told myself I am a Filipino not French (lol).
It was an interesting thing to start the class and I can feel that it was a taste test of what to come. I don't mind if it is difficult as long as I learn something new in a fun way.
Now, after writing this I will start doing my homework... :)
Good luck to me and to my new TESOL class.
Regards,
a.k.a. Ace
